Let’s Talk About Money (and Coaching Package Pricing)

Money. It’s right up there with religion and politics as a “don’t go there” topic. But let’s go there anyway.
When I first began my coaching journey, money brought up a lot of crunchy feelings. It’s the tool we’ve all agreed to use in exchange for goods and services, survival, and comfort. Some might even say it makes the world go ‘round (though I’d argue witchcraft or physics also play a role).
The truth? Talking about money feels uncomfortable—but necessary.
How I Started: Bartering for Coaching
Before I officially established my LLC, I offered coaching through barter. And I have to say—the experience was incredible.
Witnessing the creativity that people brought forward—how they saw value and traded for it—was just as delightful as coaching itself. Every exchange was a reminder that investing in yourself isn’t only about money; it’s about commitment, trust, and growth.
Bartering allowed me to build my hours for ICF certification while gaining real-world experience. More importantly, it showed me firsthand how powerful it is when someone decides they are worth investing in, no matter the form that takes.
Moving Into a Business
Today, I run a coaching business. And like any business, I charge for my services.
Barter gave me a foundation—but money makes this work sustainable. It’s what allows me to keep showing up, keep creating impact, and keep helping people live in alignment with their values.
I’ll admit, I wrestled with imposter syndrome and the “I’m not worth it” narrative early on. Especially when trying to find the balance between my mission in coaching and package pricing. But I’ve come to understand: coaching provides real, lasting value. It helps people shift from burnout to balance, from people-pleasing to purpose, from stuck to aligned. That’s worth investing in.
Why Value Matters More Than Dollars
At its core, money is just one way we measure value. The real question is:
👉 What is the value of investing in yourself?
My responsibility is to provide consistent, high-quality coaching. The client’s responsibility is to decide how coaching fits into their life, what it’s worth to them, and how they want to show up in the process.
From Scarcity to Abundance
Part of my own coaching journey is shifting from scarcity to growth. Money doesn’t define my worth—it’s simply one of many tools we use to exchange value.
Bartering taught me that worth extends beyond dollars. Running a business has taught me that money sustains the work so I can continue offering transformation to others. Both are true.
The world is more abundant than we realize, and worth is something we each get to define for ourselves.
